Library Entrance

The Oxford Brookes library is located at the heart of the university on the Headington campus spanning multiple floors in the JHB building. These is also an extensive online homepage that allows for advanced book searches and booking meeting rooms.

The library search feature allows you to efficiently gain access to the availability of books, which books may be similar and may aid your studies, and even allows for video searches.

If help Is needed with any of these features you can always contact your subject librarian at Library@brookes.ac.uk. Your subject librarian can help you find information or support your research and familiarise yourself with the libraries resources in order to have a smoother experience for the duration of your time at Oxford Brookes.

Shown above is the Dewey classification system. This is the system that the library employs in order to categorise its resources. The system spans from numbers 000-999 sectioning off books which are then further classed into smaller subsections with decimal points which are put on stickers throughout the library and its contents in order to make finding such material as precise as possible.

The library employs a traffic light system all throughout its rooms. These allow students to understand how much discussion is permitted in different areas. The green spaces allow for total discussion with yellow spaces allowing for brief and quiet collaboration. Red spaces are quiet rooms aiding focus. The library has multiple different study areas with collaborative desks all around. Many desks have computers and plug sockets in order to make your experience easier. On the library homepage you have the option of booking rooms for a maximum of two hours per day. These rooms allow for great out of class study sessions or collaborative projects to be completed much more easily.  Linked below is a video of the libraries resources.
